"A City Set on a Hill Cannot Be Hidden."

History

The thought process behind the creation of City Hill Servanthood Academy began many years ago from a vision given to founder, Michael Dunwoody. The need for a biblically based school that cultivates a climate of prayer, provides a STEM and STEAM program, along with a strong curriculum that emphasizes the science of reading, in addition to preparing students for college, vocational, and career readiness was the idea that came to mind.
Many components of this vision came in parts one piece at a time. Establishing a prayer culture that teaches students how to pray effective fervent prayers was and is the foundation on which our school is built on. Utilizing expressive communication through prayer is not only life changing to an individual, but also sets the tone for our learning climate.

The idea of implementing a training program that exposes students to STEM and STEAM concepts at a young age emerged as the field of education began to shift. There was and still is a growing need for industry driven skills required by employers and companies which in essence is impacting classrooms and how educators prepare students for the real-world.

Guiding students and assisting them in targeting the right career and vocation that best aligns with their gifts and skills was another important piece to CHSA’s institution.

Historically, we know that many that are socially disadvantaged don’t have the resources or aren’t educated on entrepreneurship and financial literacy by which these concepts are what fuels the “American Dream.” Teaching entrepreneur and financial literacy concepts are critical within the 21st century and can NO longer be ignored in education. This is the thought process that our founder took on when visualizing all that CHSA can and will be in the future.

Amidst the outbreak of covid-19, the planning for bringing the vision of City Hill Servanthood Academy to life became a top priority. Within the Summer of 2021, the organizing process began attracting like-minded individuals that believed in the vision and wanted to be a part of this great work.

Later that year, the company’s legal name became City Hill Servanthood Academy, Inc. The organization was incorporated as a domestic nonprofit corporation within the state of Ohio on November 23, 2021. CHSA adopted 7 founding board members on January 11, 2022 and applied for a nonpublic charter through the Ohio Department of Education the same day.
